the SAIM...

For all your Small Animal Internal Medicine needs

Who are we?

We are internal medicine specialists (or internists) helping veterinarians around the world.

What do we do?

We pride ourselves on providing the best advice based on current evidence-based medicine, so that you and your clients can make the most informed decision possible regarding the care of your beloved patients.

What does this actually mean?

We help with interpretation of test results, give recommendations on further testing, advise on available treatment options, formulate patient-specific treatment and monitoring plans moving forward, and assist you in managing client's expectations regarding response to treatment and prognosis.

How does this fit in with my practice and current routine?

Expert second opinions - have a difficult case that has you stumped, giving you sleepless nights, get in contact with us, we'd love to help shed some light on the matter, using evidence-based medicine, and formulate a tailored treatment plan.

Some examples of cases where Virtual Veterinary Consultants would be happy to help:*

  • Chronic enteropathies

  • Chronic kidney disease and other chronic urinary tract disorders

  • Cognitive dysfunction syndrome

  • Endocrinopathies - for instance, poorly controlled diabetes mellitus cases

  • Idiopathic epilepsy cases refractory to single-agent therapy

What do I need to do if I would like to request a consultation? *

Please click on the link below, to fill in the consultation request form and upload any necessary documents. Alternatively, feel free to contact us on, should you have any further questions.

* Please note:

Unfortunately, we are not able to advise pet owners or caregivers directly, because without an existing veterinarian / client / patient relationship, our recommendations would not be valid. Consultations need to be initiated by the primary care veterinarian who has the most current knowledge of the patient.
